Hey folks, just thought I'd pop on here and mention something that I've been dreaming up in my idle time at work. I'm planning on writing something about Shadow Moses if my research turns out to be fruitful. Making it an interesting will be a little tough, but if this comes together like I'm thinking it might, then it should be an interesting read anyways and something new to add to the Metal Gear universe. I'll try to do it this weekend.

Hmm.... I’m all for creative writing, and I know you’re great at it, but is there really a shortage of Shadow Moses coverage?
1998 – Metal Gear Solid 1999 – Metal Gear Solid Integral 2001 – In the Darkness of Shadow Moses 2003 – Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes 2004 – Metal Gear Solid Comics 2006 – Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel 2008 – Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots
Honestly... why?

Don't forget the "e-books" in MGS2.
It's funny they haven't published those as separate material... I mean, I WOULD buy them, and I'm sure Aiijii would too...

Well, I could essentially do the same treatment to The Big Shell in time if this turns out to be anything substantial. It's not a rehashing of the plot at all, in case you're wondering. It has more to do with what Shadow Moses would be like were it not a fictional place.

I started on it last night and should be working on it for a week or two at least.

So I finally got the chance to write up a healthy chunk of it tonight - I'm having a blast! I miss the days of writing papers in college; I was always pretty good with that. I like being able to write up the best possible way of expressing something, truly is an art. Anyways, this read is plenty nerdy and requires lots of imagination. It's kind of ridiculous when I think of it. I haven't even played the original MGS in close to two years! If you like reading essays about various Metal Gear things and anything Metal Gear related, you should like this.

Sorry, I know I said I'd have that article out in about two weeks' time, but I've been working insane amounts lately (66 hours last week alone!!!) and that makes weekends sacred to do just about anything that I've been wanting to catch up on besides being awesome with friends and sleeping.

Update
Pretty much finished with the body of the essay, it's about 6 pages. Just trying to find a way to end it now and not having any ideas as how to do it properly. Stay tuned.

Yo...so it's almost time for my bi-annual Metal Gear essay (or that's how many I seem to get done anyhow). Just wanted to garner some interest for it here. All I'll say at this point is that it has to do with the role of the ninja throughout the series.

Hmm... The role of the Ninja, eh? Well, we got: Black Ninja/Kyle Schneider - Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake Cyborg Ninja/Gray Fox - Metal Gear Solid Ninja/Olga Gurlukovich - Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty Raiden - Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots Unfortunetely the trend is incomplete as Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater did not have a Ninja character. And I'm not even thinking about MPO! But just looking at the four listed: Kyle - first ally, then enemy, then information help prior to death. Fox - first ally, then enemy, then info/physical help prior to death. Olga - enemy, then info/phsyical help prior to death. Raiden - only ally, info and physical. No death. Raiden seems to have broken the death trend... though he came close on Shadow Moses IMO! The underlining role seems to be that of a guardian. However, in the case of Kyle and Fox you saw them as enemies as well. So it's a role that evolved over the course of the series from an suprising enemy to a 100% guardian. I personally thought that Fox was the best balance for what this role should be. He helped Snake with info. He helped physically. But he also served as sort of an examiner to test out the player's skills. Neither enemy nor friend... that is the best balance. Kyle was more of an enemy in MG2. Raiden was 100% friend. Olga... well... I thought it was a poorly done one. She really didn't do much in her Ninja role.
