There is a rumor in the new EGM mag that says Kolyma has been seen talking to Infinity Ward (Call of Duty 1, 2, 4), Guerrilla (Killzone and sequel) and Treyarch (Call of Duty 3 and the new one).
According to them, he's thinking about making an FPS (first person shooter). If he's been talking to those developers because he want advise or if he wants to have them develop it isn't said.
What do you guys think?
Personally, if this is true, I'm stoked! The FPS genre, with the exception of the upcoming Mirror's Edge (which really is more like a first person adventure, not shooter) the genre's been standing pretty much still since like Doom. What it needs is someone really creative like Kolyma to stir things up a bit.
What boggles my mind though is that Kolyma has said time and time again that he suffers from motion sickness when playing first person shooter.

Hmmm... I personally doubt it. An FPS game is very... mindless... no matter what you make the plot, the concept is to run and gun. That is the opposite of the methodical concepts Kojima created over the last 20 years. I really don't see him making such a game. Now, there COULD be FPS elements in his new game, but it won't just be a pure FPS.

I strongly disagree with FPS games having to be mindless. There is Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon and The Suffering to prove my point.
And even if all FPS games so far had been run and gun, that doesn't mean there can't be a game to change that.
You could make a stealth game in first person. You can make an adventure game in fist person (check out Mirror's Edge if you haven't).

I'd be interested in playing a Kojima FPS. I'm not sure if it'll happen, but it would be cool.
And TBoL is right, not all FPS games are mindless. Mindless FPS games are just ones that are made more often since they offer more entertainment to 95% of gamers.

Plus, you can't really compare "mindless" FPS (say, Duke Nukem 3D or Doom... or Quake at that) to, for example, Half-Life.
