Been a while since we had any Metal Gear news. Unfortunetely the "news" aren't really exciting. Here are the two current annoncements from Konami: > MGS4 has been out since June and NOW we are getting the demo! The MGS4 demo, showing some part of Act 1 in the Middle East is available for download on the Japanese PlayStation Network Store. At least we know MGS4 sold 4.3 million copies since release. That already tops MGS3. www.psu.com/MGS4-demo-arrives-on-Japanese-PSN--a0005298-p0.php> Contratry to past rumors, there will NOT be an expanded edition of MGS4. Nor will there be some alternate ending released in Decemeber. Instead Konami will focus on new expansions for Metal Gear Online. There is also some new MGS4 watches that will be sold. www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=200991So that's the news, boys and girls. The world of Metal Gear has slowed down greatly. MGS4 was the end of "our" era. Time may have come to move on.

That's certainly news, no expansion? First time in the series' history. I don't really see a reason for an expansion, though. Why do an expansion just for continuity/expansions' sake?

Well, I can't say that they've got any expansion right so far:
> Integral: VR Missions were cool, but mostly were lame. Some just just controller-shashing frustration! And they really should've done more with the Ninja, only 3 levels!!! Good idea, but poorly done. I would've liked to see mission to play as Meryl, Ninja, and perhaps as the Fox-Hound members. That would've been trully "additional content".
> Substance: Crap. VR Missions got more annoying! Instead of 500 of those and crappy Snake Tales why not spend the money and give us Snake's part in the Big Shell?! That would've been worth it.
> Subsistence: Probaly the only expansion worth while. The definitive MGS3 with no more radio bugs and 3D camera. And we got MG1 and MG2 officially. The bonus content was great and Online stuff was born. Though... the downside is that Online content was only temprorary. Still, we got the definitive MGS3, MG1, and MG2.
> Plus: Puke! Unless you're really into Online play this is a shelf warmer. The Infinity Mission sucked.
So, can't say I'm sad about no MGS4 Expansions. I could think of a few things I wouldn't mind having, but why bother? If they did make an expansion it would just be some VR crap. LOL
I do believe the Saga is fully over now. E3 2009 should be interesting as we will see the future of the franchise.
