Some of you may have heard about this. A man by the name of Bob Pelloni, self-taught game developer, spent over 15,000 hours throughout the course of 5 years writing, coding and developing his own game, titled Bob's Game. The game itself is RPG themed with a focus on puzzles and story. He wanted it to be a licensed game by a licensed developer for the DS. However, in order to actually do that, he needed permission from Nintendo to go and purchase an SDK from Nintendo that would allow him to do just that. Nintendo just ignored his e-mails. In retaliation he locked himself a room and tried to protest Nintendo's decision for 100+ days. He thought that eventually Nintendo would give him permission due to the bad image it gives Nintendo through the media.
He caved in after 30 days of protest. He gave up on getting the SDK and finishing the game. 5 years of one person's work is gone in a blink of an eye.

While I do feel bad for him getting his dreams and 5 years worth of work destroyed with a seemingly swift stroke, it was kinda his own fault. He assumed Nintendo would give him the SDK, and had no fallback to what actually happened. I'm sure that won't stop him from making games/apps for DS or the G1 Android, but something like that must really take a big f...cking toll on ones emotions.
