Natal is amazing. The possibilities are endless. Even if Natal ends up a novelty, the tech behind it leaves open the possibility for a new approach to game design all together. Milo's AI and interaction was incredible. Full body recognition as well as facial recognition is a huge step. THIS is the new wave of gaming. A lot of people wondering what would be next after 360 and pS3, said there wouldn't be a PS4 or new xbox (if ya dont believe me, a good source is gametrailers, invisible wall) This is the next, next gen of gaming. Nintendo has always revolutionized gaming, from the first rumble feature, to first trigger on a regular controller (n64), memory card, motion sensor (wii mote), you name it, they came up with it first. But first just opens the door to new ways to use this tech. Microsoft has obviously found their way to bring this tech beyond the eyetoy, wii mote, wii fit, any of that. Even if it ends up a gimmick at first, i can guarantee it will end up the new wave of gaming in the future.

Wow, why didn't Sony think of this?
Oh wait, they did. About eight years ago.
Seriously, this looks like crap and is only a tiny tiny bit different from Eye Toy. Call me conservative, but a simple controller is the only option for me. I could never be imersed in a game if I'm jumping around like a fool.
And since you seem easily impressed, remember this is just advertising and not real games they're showing. If you want an idea how this will play out, look at Wii. Because so far it hasn't revolutionized sh*t.

AG just read the kotaku liveblog kotaku.com/5273134/microsofts-e3-expo-live-blog?skyline=true&s=iits the final thing they talk about , you cant miss it

Yeah, the use of the technology is different from how Sony uses the features of PlaystationEye. But with small changes they could do the same.
Not saying this isn't new, but it's not that big of a leap forward as people make it out to be.
And I could bet my right arm this will just turn out to be an forgettable gimmick in the end.

I agree to a point. Yes, for THIS generation it will be a gimmick, but next (next) gen is in the air. From people who follow the industry, NATAL seems to be the next logical and progressive step in gaming, rather then just improving graphics with the next console. I think NATAL and NATAL alike tech is going to be the progression we see in gaming when it blossoms.

There is a limit to what kind of games that accomodate this. Think of all the morons that had accidents with the Wii remotes.

Thats why I said this is just the beginning. MS has intoduced the concept and the industry will roll with in the generations to come.

My point here isn't specifically what Microsoft introduced. My point is that this whole concept can't fly very far. Will it be used? Sure. But it will never replace standard gaming because it is simply not safe. You can't make a game like Metal Gear for it. Someone will get injured playing it and will sue. Plain and simple.
People got injured with Wii remotes. And while it's interactive, it is still a stationary tool. You're talking about a fully mobile concept. It will not fly.

Wow once again I called this awhile back. I've been following any leads on mainstream VR, this was bound to come, great start to what will soon be your childrens way of gaming.

That's the sad part. Games as it is make kids more and more detached from reality. Giving them VR will only make things worse. I can't tell you how much some of these "hardcore gamers" make me sick. Just talking to these smelly, out of shape goofs with absolutely no real-life experience or social skills makes me cringe. And that population is growing!

Detachment from reality greatly increases a persons intuition. Ha ha never mind
AMEN TO THAT! I'm glad to be my own social label that has no negatives of being a hardcore gamer, kind of like Blade (you know...day walker...lol) where I can kill at games but not suffer the grip of social ineptness.
Anyway; the Sony conference showed off their new motion sense gadget and I love it already. You just have to see the demo to understand why I'm so gun-ho for this to be utilized in future games. Can you imagine in-depth sword/melee battles across the globe? Can't wait!
