Raiden Stars in the First Metal Gear Solid Game to Hit the Xbox 360®

El Segundo, Calif. - June 1, 2009 - Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., announced today that Metal Gear Solid: Rising is currently in development for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft - the first Metal Gear Solid game to launch on the Xbox 360®. Raiden, one of the most popular characters in the Metal Gear Solid universe, will star in the all-new title from Hideo Kojima. Raiden first debuted in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system as a playable character and appeared as a non-playable cyborg in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.

It hasnt been announced to be an exclusive has it? Maybe the PS3 will get it, with some exclusive extras giving Hideo's foundness with Sony.

Officially only the 360 has been announced. The official Konami site does not show a console label at all. So, we'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if Sony gets in on the action.

In all honesty, this can only drive the MG fan base up which I have no problem with. Good to see Kojima can see where the 'market' is going and unleash a product bound to keep the players playing.

And drive the quality of the game down. What made Metal Gear the series we love is how unique it was. MGS4 already took some of that away by adding the western-style shooter option. Not that I'm complaining about that. But still. What's the plot? More prequels and fillers? More brooding Raiden BS? Enough is enough!

Well, it's not actually revealed if he wrote this one, nor is it set in stone that he's directing the whole thing.

What gets me the most in all this is that I feel nothing. Since MGS1, any Metal Gear announcement got me to feel something, some sort of an interest. Usually it was excitement and suspense. But even with smaller title, like Acid and MPO, I was curious to find out more about them.

Right now, I feel nothing. It's definitely a first for me in respect to Metal Gear. The amount of emotion that this game generated from me was about the same as if it was a Mario or a Zelda announcement. I feel NOTHING. No joy, no sorrow, no hate, not even regret. I just feel nothing.

Never thought I'de reach that point so definitevely.

KJ: No, it's xxx. If I say it correctly it should be xxx. Right now I am doing all the game design and directing.

HM: wow!

Right now. It doesn't mean he'll be doing the whole thing to the end. Not saing he won't, just not counting on it until we're a year or so into the game production. By then it'll be too late for him to back out. Right now it's just a title, nothing more.

I read that, and I too believe he's really doing this one, but can be be 100% sure he's not refering to Peace Walker?

Hopefully he'll do both though, because I'd love a really good MGS for the PSP.

To my knowledge, PWalker is going to be a true edition to the MG saga, Kojima blatantly said in the E3 conference that this is going to be done by him, not only is he producing, but also writing.

It's the same thing as MPO, a filler. MPO was also "a true MGS". Have you played it?

NO I haven't, but were they written by Kojima? (will look it up later)
