Since last year, Ive been following Batman: Arkham Asylum and it finally got released today. Of course, I got it. After spending a few hours with it, this is indeed FINALLY, after so many failures, a good... no, scratch that, a great... no, an AWESOME Batman game. It's August. A bit early to declare game of the year, ain't it?
I got the game myself yesterday and got past the part where you beat Bane. Overall I think it is a great game. Can't really nitpick anything bad. I'm not a fan of the stiff character animations in the gameplay sequences... I don't know... Just not as good as Metal Gear I guess. LOL But outside of that the game is very good.
There is one potential flaw that I see in the game, but I haven't finished it yet so I can't confirm it. I did not see any options for Chapter Select. If the game does not have that, it's a huge minus in my book. I like being able to go back and replay any part of the game at any point. Metal Gear is the best in that respect as you can save anywhere at any time. When you look at something like Uncharted, you get second best option in the form of chapter select, but you can't create save files within the chapters. The Batman game doesn't seem to offer any of that. So if I want to replay the Bane fight or the Doctor Rescue mission, I would have to play the game from the start each time. That's a big time minus.

I'm assuming this is a PS3 game, right? I remember reading about it in Game Informer over a year ago. This might be a cool game to sink some time into.

I read a couple of good reviews and I think i'll be getting the game as well these days, for either PS3 or Xbox. Time to play it?...now that's a different matter

The game is lengthy, but it does run smooth and fast pace. Actually, the game reminds me of Uncharted. The gameplay and graphics just have the look and feel to them.
