In case some of you didn't know... I posted this on the site a few days back.
Seems that Peace Walker finally got a release date, at least for Japan. March 18th, 2010. US will have to wait until May 25th and Europe until May 28th!
On a related note, I will try to set aside some time to put together the Peace Walker page. I should probably make an informal announcement that it will be the final page for this site. MGF has been around since March 2001. The internet, the video game world, and the Metal Gear franchise have changed a great deal since then. I feel comfortable ending the site growth with that. The site won't be taken down or anything like that, but I won't be covering games beyond Peace Walker.

Damn, that's the saddest post I've read here on MGF. AG, why you gotta force us to grow up, man? Why??? Can't believe you're still doing it. I guess I gave up. No time to learn new coding + no time for games + no time for updating. *sigh*

Well, there are many factors to consider here. First and foremost, I have no interest in Metal Gear anymore. I was correct in predicting that MGS4 would be “my last”. And it was. I found out the release date for Peace Walker and with full honesty I can say that I couldn’t care less. I’m not looking forward to the game one bit, regardless of how good it may be. I just don’t care anymore. I do want to follow through on it though in case it replace MPO… but even that isn’t confirmed yet. Then there is also the issue of space. The free accounts I used to make MGF reached capacity. And I’m not paying for any upgrades. So, frankly… I’m out of room even if I wanted to continue. I’m not even sure I have the room for a Peace Walker page to be honest. We’ll see. I was thinking about limping along to get to March 5th, 2011… but that’s over a year away. That will mark 10 years for the website, and that’s 10 years of being an active website. LOL We’ll, maybe it’ll happen. The forum is practically dead. Can’t really blame people, there is nothing new to discuss. And I think we discuss the older games enough already. Hopefully things will pickup and the site can go one more year. The internet is such a different place then it was back in 2001. My life is moving away from Metal Gear. And while Kojima’s 6 masterpieces will always be a part of me, it’s not something that I look forward to anymore. To me the series ended, and ended well, with MGS4. I was happy with what I saw. I have nothing more to ask of Solid Snake, Kojima, or MGF.

After Peace Walker MGS will be reborn into the next generation with Rising(which is exactly what Kojima wanted all this time) and you don't want to see how this turns out not even a little bit!?!?!Besides this is the most well decored MGS site i've seen and you're just going to let it die??

The problem is interest. I don't have it anymore. I found out the release date for Peace Walker and I couldn't care less! And that was a Kojima-direct MGS! Rising? Will I play it? Yes. Do I care about it? No. Not even a little bit. The Metal Gear series is full of crap. As much as I love the 6 main games, I'm also angry at all the sh*t that has "Metal Gear" in the title. So many failures! I think that Rising will be a fun game for the general masses to play. And the general masses don't want complex story or mass attention to detail. They want fast-pace action. And that's all Rising will be. And action game. It'll be nothing like the current games.
As far as the site goes... I really don't know what to do with it. It can't grow. It would be one thing if the forum was busy, but it really isn't. So, it's not like I'm fighting for a cause here.

I think you're panicing to early, my man. Nobody is shutting anything down. We're not anywhere near Peace Walker release date and even after that it'll be a while before that page is built. I usually play the game through a few times to learn everything there is in it. So, I'm sure it'll be perfectly active through most of 2010. Even after that I'll probably still report the news now then about the Rising and such. I wouldn't take MGF down. As long as there are visitors, the site will stay open. I just won't be making any new sections after Peace Walker.

I'm curious... Since you're manually updating your site, you don't have a news archive on here. I'm wondering, have you saved all the news updates throughout the history of the site? Would be cool to go through sometime if you had

Well, within each forum section you should see an Archive category with all older forum sections. This particular forum dates back to October 2003. The first couple of years we were on the old Ezboard forum, which I believe is no longer available to view. But you can go as far back on this board as Snake Eater release discussions and theories. Browse the Archive sections in each of the boards, it's kinda fun to look back. One of them actually does have the link to the old Ezboard!

Thank you!!! I'm glad you guys like it! I do my best to stay faithful to the visual quality Metal Gear is known for. I try to photoshop as many details as I can. Granted, my limited web design skill... LOL
