I'm just curious, since I don't keep up with this anymore, but how many active Metal Gear fansites are there? I'm talking active, like still reporting news and maybe some occassional site updates. I know TUS is still going strong. Snake Soup is active too, seems to be growing last I checked. Anyone else still in the mix? I know that the 2008 comeback that MGN tried to make died out rather quickly (as predicted). I checked around today and can't even find a trace of it anymore! "The Sons of Big Boss" hasn't had an upate in ages, so I think they're down for the count. Last bit of news/updates was in July 2008. Is it really just down to a handful of us?! Man! I guess it is true, fansites are an outdated concept that just down't fly anymore. Oh well. We had a good run!

There is still some activity here and there, like some MGS unions and other couple of other sites. From my limited experience with these specific sites, i noticed there's intense activity when a major game in the series is released, everybody is enthusiastic and talking about everything for like half an year and then, just like with every fanbase regardless of the medium, a few 'hardcore fans' remain active here and there, generally cursing and spitting on each other. For news and stuff i guess the major gaming sites will always be the best option, and for a nice chat, well.. we have each other right here

LMAO! Perfect! Couldn't have said it better myself! ;D I think this is where the concept of a long-term fansite is dead. It still amazes me just how much things have changed. Back in late 90's and 2000-2003 there was a serious need for fansites. Major gaming sites were a joke for the most part it offered nothing in terms of in-depth coverage. But now it's a different story. Official web quality really went up. Gaming sites offer more options to the users. Plus there's Wikipedia for all the nitpick details and NOOB info. The very concept of a fansite is outdated and pointless in today's web. Sad, but true. "The Web has changed. Our war is over. This is our final mission.... BANG!"
