What appears on the video didn't impress me that much. Kojima is really making this for 13 year olds. Looks like I'll have to play the whole game to see if it is worth it.
Kojima just finished his second trailer and is planning on releasing it next Thursday on Japan, which means either Thursday or Friday for us, depending on where we live.
To be honest, I'm not so hyped for this game anymore. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because of the kid-like elements Kojima is inserting in the game.

I agree. I really don't have that "next Metal Gear" feel for this game. But then again, I'm not surprised. MGS4 gave me such an awesome sense of closure that nothing can reactivate my interestin the future series.

I would play this. I would play this several times, maybe. Let's hope the story is decent, but I think all the new features look really fun to implement. Boxes dropping on heads, invisibility tarps, the ability to pull a guy down off a ladder. Sounds fun! I couldn't play it because obviously, no PSP here but the gameplay really looks fun to me.

Cool abilities is one thing... A requirement to have good controls to enjoy those abilities is another. The PSP sucks in terms of design, it's not very comfortable at all.

Well the PSP itself doesn't suck, it just can't make some games feel as cool as in the consoles. Like the MGS series. Unless they make a different engine and don't try to emulate a console effort on a handheld, it's almost always useless.
Look at Syphon Filter. The first 3 games were cool on the PSOne, but when SF: TOS came out for the PS2, it sucked. Why? Because they tried to have the same controls as in the PSOne, which didn't use the right analog stick that much. The PS2, in contrast, NEEDS the stick, so that's that.
Now, when they made an SF for the PSP, they developed a whole new engine with whole new controls specially designed for the handheld. And guess what: it's one of the best handheld games I've ever played.
