So, guys, what we have been waiting for... the release of Peace Walker!
Oh wait, it's only released in Japan... dammit. Well, at least we're getting it before the British.
Since the game has been released, spoilers are bound to flood the internet, so be careful.

Yo, Jackyl, I see your article got published in Meta Gear Solid! Going to read it right now...
Oh, and why is your site infected?

What spoilers?! LOL The game takes place between two titles we already know. There is absolutely no shock value in this game, at all! Otacon's dad. Miller. Big Boss building Outer Heaven. Patriots building up in full swing. We know all that without playing the game. I think that's my main reason for not having any interest in the plot.

solidelman - Site is infected due to some malicious code somehow being inserted from my host recently. Might have been in the transition to the new servers when someone bought them out. I have to talk to them about it.

Yeah well we don't know what happens to Paz, Galvez, Otacon's dad, Cecile, Amanda, Chico, or how the hell they are related with the main canon. We don't know if they're the only characters in the game, either.
I personally would like to see Ocelot's return.

That's the problem with introducing new cast in an interquil game. It doesn't matter what happened to them. They are not a factor in the rest of the installments. And if they are, then it would be NASTY for the overall plot. Just think back to Sigint, Eva, Zero, and Paramedic. They were introduced for the first time in MGS3. Come MGS4, Kojima made them The Patriots!!! The whole damn thing! And the reason why most disliked the idea was because these characters didn't make much of an impact (with a possible exeption of Eva). A radio crew that you never see until a brief glimpse at the ending cutscenes becomes the driving force of the series? LMAO! Talk about a let down!
If Kojima puts an importance spin on the Peace Walker cast, it will be a mistake. The series is convoluted enough without more retcons.
Either way, I see nothing to be excited about. The events of Peace Walker are not mentioned in any of the prevoius games. So there is no buld-up. There is no "oh man, what's gonna happen!" feel. We know what's gonna happen. We've known since 1987.

They're not mentioned cuz the game wasn't planned back in 1998. And that radio crew you never see actually talks with you quite often. They give you the impression that they can be trusted, when suddenly you discover they're all bitches.
According to some reviews, PW holds a much better connection with the events of Snake Eater than MPO did.
Also, something about the ending:
::POSSIBLE SPOILER::
It's in the same style as in MGS4, like an epilogue with various parts, only that you have to earn it.
Yes. To watch the real ending for Peace Walker, you have to beat an unlockable level that only God knows how we can unlock it (that is, until June 8th).
::SPOILER ENDS HERE::

Interesting... very interesting. Well, I just got my copy of Peace Walker in the mail. Japanese ofcourse. I don't speak Japanese, but I still believe I will play it. I have little interest in the plot, so it would be interesting to see how far I can make it without knowing what to do. Small note: The manual of the game mentions the events of 1964 (I can't read Japanese so I don't know what it says). Nothing is mentioned about the events of 1970 (MPO).
