Video game spies - who would win?
A judgment through 8 areas - assault, intelligence, gadgets, explosions, disguises, stealth, agility, melee, etc.
Scores are out of 5.
Gabe Logan
Political Affiliation: Internal Presidential Consulting Agency
Featured in: Syphon Filter, Syphon Filter 2, Syphon Filter 3, Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow
Intelligence: He's not dumb by any means, but his intelligence is largely a think-on-your-feet style. In Omega Strain, however, he proves to have an investigative knack and good hunchwork.
*** / *****
Agility: He's functional, but a tumbler he is not. It's largely brute strength that gets him through his acrobatics. Extra point for the strain he gives his arms.
**** / *****
Assault: There's just nobody better than Logan for straight-out assault. His aim is deadly and his arm is steady. Logan frequently takes on armies by himself.
***** / *****
Stealth: He can pull off a mission without being snapped at, but not usually without leaving a trail of bodies.
*** / *****
Melee: Though he has merely a couple moves and his trusty combat knife, if he gets close enough and slashes randomly he will hit an artery.
*** / *****
Disguise: Adequate, but not fantastic.
** / *****
Explosions: He's just great with them (autoaimed grenades, anyone?)
**** / *****
Gadgetry: He isn't a high-tech spy, but he has some great, inventive stuff. Cyanide breath? Awesome.
*** / *****
Total:
27 / 40
Sam Fisher
Political Affiliation: Third Echelon - National Security Agency
Featured in: Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Splinter Cell: Essentials, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Intelligence: Another spy from the old school, but Sam has quite a bit of technical knowledge, as well. His investigative ability is probably just under Gabe's.
*** / *****
Agility: Remarkably lithe for an old man, or anyone for that matter.
**** / *****
Assault: Definitely not his forte. Sam's tough, but this isn't his bag.
** / *****
Stealth: He is a ninja, period. Most people never even see him.
***** / *****
Melee: He can kill you with his bare hands, but he's a bit clumsy. Extra point added for his new hand-to-hand stuff in Chaos Theory.
*** / *****
Disguise: Cutscenes only, but he does marginally well.
* / *****
Explosions: He can handle a grenade or a bomb, but again, this isn't his thing.
** / *****
Gadgetry: Some of the best gadgetry available. The NSA is much better funded than the IPCA.
**** / *****
Total:
24 / 40
47
Political Affiliation: International Contract Agency
Featured in: Hitman: Codename 47, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Contracts, Hitman: Blood Money, Hitman: Absolution, Hitman 6
Intelligence: He's a man that solves persistant problems. He often has to go after very well-guarded men, which involves getting around them.
**** / *****
Agility: Not much on command, but he has some pretty impressive context-sensitive jumping work.
*** / *****
Assault: He can do it, but he's liable to take a lot of bullets. A good shot, though.
** / *****
Stealth: He can slip around most places with the help of a good disguise.
**** / *****
Melee: He'll knock your ass out, but not for very long. He's deadly with melee weapons, particularly his piano wire, though.
**** / *****
Disguise: They aren't always effective, but he's pretty good at finding one that is.
**** / *****
Explosions: He uses them sometimes, but he prefers melee or a good sniping.
** / *****
Gadgetry: He pretty much makes use of your average meat and potatoes.
** / *****
Total:
25 / 40
Billy Bishop
Political Affiliation: Security Enforcement Agency
Featured in: Spy Fiction
Intelligence: He does some hacking, but mostly he just thinks one step ahead of his enemies.
** / *****
Agility: Quite agile. Does a lot of rolls, twists, and running around on narrow beams.
*** / *****
Assault: He's no GI, but his aim is damn good.
*** / *****
Stealth: It's pretty much impossible for him to fail. He's the one spy that can go invisible.
***** / *****
Melee: He can beat the sh*t out of people, but he's bad at actually knocking them out.
** / *****
Disguise: Flawless disguises -- he outright steals identities.
***** / *****
Explosions: He doesn't use them often at all, and for good reason. His aim with them sucks.
* / *****
Gadgetry: Probably the most diverse and well hidden array of gadgetry, but you don't get to use all of it very often.
**** / *****
Total:

James Bond
Political Affiliation: MI:6
Featured in: License to Kill, GoldenEye, The World is Not Enough, Agent Under Fire, NightFire, Everything or Nothing, From Russia With Love
Intelligence: Bond gets out of lots of situations with his diverse knowledge and quick wits.
*** / *****
Agility: Jumping from motorcycles to trains? Sliding under falling fifty tonne pillars? Yeah, I'd say that's impressive.
*** / *****
Assault: He's Bond, James Bond. No man can take him in a firefight.
***** / *****
Stealth: When he's actually forced to use it, he does well, though he's seen quite often.
** / *****
Melee: He's a formidable opponent in FRWL and EON with fisticuffs, but utterly useless in the previous games.
*** / *****
Disguise: He rarely takes disguise, but it seems to work when he does.
* / *****
Explosions: Again. Bond, James Bond.
**** / *****
Gadgetry: His trademark.

Solid Snake
Political Affiliation: FOX
Featured in: Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain
Intelligence: There's nobody better at making the correct decisions on the battlefield. Simple as that.
***** / *****
Agility: I'm giving him two stars, when he was younger he might have peeked at three stars, but two stars are being fair.
** / *****
Assault: He'd get five stars, but it's not his style. He's also been captured before, to deserve five stars you could argue that he should have gotten out of it.
**** / *****
Stealth: Suck it, Fisher. The quality of enemy Snake is typically up against ain't your run-of-the-mill terrorists, almost 100% of them are genetically-altered super-beings and, occasionally, have supernatural powers. I'd even give him six stars if I could.
***** / *****
Melee: I could have given him three stars, but he's probably better than that. He (somehow) knows CQC (Close Quarters Combat) in MGS4 (Metal Gear Solid 4), I think four stars is being fair.
**** / *****
Disguise: This is another category that's different depending on what game you look at. He gets five stars for stealth, and part of his repitior is being incognito, so four stars is pretty reasonable.
**** / *****
Explosions: REX, Outer Heaven, the Hind... he doesn't flash this skill often, but when he does, look out.
**** / *****
Gadgetry: He probably would get three stars if it weren't for Otacon. But whatever he has in his inventory, he gets as much use out of it as possible. Ketchup, anyone?

** / *****
Assault: She can whip it and and hers is usually bigger.
**** / *****
Stealth: She doesn't use it often, but it can be effective.
** / *****
Melee: She can lay a beatdown, but it takes forever, and is ineffective since her enemies know CQC (Close Quarters Combat).
** / *****
Disguise: She takes up disguise very rarely and not for long, though it does do the trick.
* / *****
Explosions: Half the reason she gets through most missions is by blowing sh*t up. Gotta love those pinball grenades.
**** / *****
Gadgetry: Some of the best gadgetry ever, thanks to her being a spy in the future.

** / *****
Assault: He's got pretty steady aim. Extra point added for the dimension created by his acquiring powers.
**** / *****
Stealth: It's possible, sometimes, but usually his enemies are too quick and smart to be snuck up on.
* / *****
Melee: He can turn the ass-end of any weapon into a very, very effective bludgeoning tool. When he turns into a mutant, he can take just about anything out with one swipe.
**** / *****
Disguise: Simply because he can transform, he gets one star, but he never gets to use it for stealth reasons.
* / *****
Explosions: He has a strong arm and is helped in this area by effective bombs. They bounce around a lot on impact, though.
**** / *****
Gadgetry: He uncovers a lot of experimental weaponry, and his wrist-scanner is just pure cool. That said, it's mostly weapons he takes along for the ride; most of the cool gizmos are in the labs themselves, unremovable.

*** / *****

*** / *****
Assault: He can hold his own in a firefight, but his bullets don't have the precision accuracy that Gabe has. And even Fisher would beat him.
* / *****
Stealth: He's rather good at this. He can own Steven Seagal when snapping necks, earning him an extra star.
**** / *****
Melee: He's average with a taser, but Gabe would carve his prettyboy ass in a knifefight. Without perfect stealth, Cobra embarasses himself when it comes to CQC (Close Quarters Combat).
* / *****
Disguise: He can blend in with the environment or the enemy most of the time.
**** / *****
Explosions: He's pretty good here, but can't autoaim a grenade, making Gabe better.
