Well, I wouldn't say that. I still prefer the new art over the original. I always (even before the updates) hated that they looked like actors. My only gripe is that they cheapened out and not brough it the eye and mouth animations. True that. The static images felt very rushed, if you ask me.

I think the best way to go would have been to make it optional... but well, it's been 2 1/2 years and 10 years since the updates!

Any thoughts on the MGS HD Collection? On the one hand I think it's great that they are doing this, but it does feel rushed. If they are going to include MG1 and MG2, why not MGS1? Just seems strange to do that. Still, I'm sure I'll be picking it up. The Japanese version actually had a PSN voucher for that game. Of course, Peace Walker was released seperately in turn. I think it wouldn't have made that much of a difference in Konami's eyes. Also, a main reason for these collections was the fact that most of those (PS2) games couldn't be played on later PS3 consoles. Since MGS1 was already on PSN, it seemed redundant apparently. Still would have liked it on the disc. It's really a thing with those HD Collections. Most leave out the first game in the series...

It's interesting, y'know. For some reason Japanese games always have some kind of bonus (like a voucher) but US, UK, Australia and the rest of the world somehow gets left out in terms of said bonus especially when it comes to HDC's.
No offense, but you have to be bullsh*ttin' me! DMC has the FIRST game as well as 2 and 3. Same goes for GoW collection; Splinter Cell trilogy; Pro Skater HD; Yakuza; Zone of the Enders...the list goes on.
(Of course, I may have left out some games from the above list, but my point stands; most HDC's should generally contain the first game)

Yeah, ok, maybe "most HD Collections" was too strong a phrase here. But there is anumber of them: MGS, Hitman, Silent Hill. Why can't they localize the Yakuza HD Collection?

It's when a game from Japan is brought over to the west (and vice versa). This includes of course translating all the text and subtitles in the game, English voice acting (though the Yakuza series retained the japanese voice acting after the first game) and sometimes they even mess with the content. Such was the case in Yakuza 3, where they took a lot of content out because they thought we over here wouldn't understand it because of cultural differences (since Sega of America got a sh*tstorm for that, they stopped cutting content from later games). So, if something isn't localised (or "localized", whatever accent), it exists in Japan, but hasn't been brought over to the States or Europe (and vice versa). The Yakuza series has 3 games that weren't localized and an HD Collection from the first two. And Yakuza 5, which will be released over here this fall, has been out in Japan for 3 years!!! Really a shame we only got like half the series over here...

What the actual f...ck man.
Retards.
(Just shows how bloody racist Jap's have become. Not only do their games always have some kind of bonus as mentioned above, but they dare to cut/ edit said content like you explained. The fact that they leave out all these sh*t is but an example of MANY instances where game devs for some reason whatsoever just become straightoff batsh*t insane. I swear, this generation has seen a f...cking INSANE influx of dev studios inexplicably becoming sh*tty, for some f...cking reason, and deciding to sh*tcan whatever material they think off from the top of their heads)

I'm curious what we will see for the 30th anniversary. It's not far off, July 2017 is only 2 years away.

Probably another Game collection? And since Kojima is out, it will now include Portable Ops HD and Rising in 1080p for PS4 and XboxOne remastered? xD
Dude! Are you a baby or something? Apart from your comment being idiotic racist, it is also directed against the wrong people! The problem is, that they don't find a publisher over here and let's be honest, there are few Japanese games that a publisher can make serious profit on over here. And while big companies like Sega, Konami or Sony have subsidiaries in the West which localize their games, the people who make the possible changes are Americans and the original game designers and directors oftentimes have little involvement with the localization! Also, it's not unheard of that cuts are made because of cultural differences. Hack, entire movies are reshot with American actors to bridge the cultural gap (such as the original Godzilla). And a little well known TV series called Power Rangers? That's just the Americanized version of a Japanese franchise called Super Sentai. So just stop your stupid BS. The world is complex. Period. No simple answer like "it's all this groups fault". *shakes his head*
(That being said, I still feel that a work of art should be preserved in its original form. However, there are still a lot more games out there that I consider entertainment than games that I think of as art.)

Maybe, just maybe - and this is about the biggest maybe I can muster right now - they just might make a version for the PC, or even the Nintendo consoles, lmfao.
Yeah, but why the f...ck do the original designers/ directors generally NOT do it??
The problem I have, is why reshoot movies just for the sake of having American cast/ crew? Seems pretty damn stupid if you ask me. It's like there's little reason to make an 'Americanised version of a Japanese franchise', imho. In other words, why the f...ck can't they just use franchises as they are? Why remake them...??
Well, I seem to think of art more as music and drawings, y'know, like literal art. Games, to me, are definitely entertainment, that's for sh*t sure. And I also think that art needs to be kept as it was.

Would you oversee for instance a polish version of a game you created? Or a book? I think mostly it's because they don't speak the foreign languages. I don't know. The used to be a time when movies weren't thought of as art. Not that long ago actually. I think anything can be art... or trash But I still think there are so few games out there that can be considered art. I also don't consider movies like Marvel or the newest action flick art. However there are some great games out there that I think of as art, such as the team Ico games, to a degree The Last of Us, Red Dead Redemption, maybe GTA to some extend (as it is a parody of American society) and, of course, Metal Gear.

Generally, I like to think of movie series' as 'types of art'. Like the 007 shows; Alien/ Predator franchises etc. Btw these are my favourite even if they were box office bombs (especially the AVP ones)
I would say Uncharted is a type of art, as well as the Batman: Arkham ones. I also like to think of TDK series as art in general, even though there were (what) 6 or so Batman's, like the different Bond's and what they brought to their respective movies.
