Well, first it happened on the 25th Anniversary page where they did not mention Portable Ops: www.konami.jp/mg25th/truth/And now this continues with the official MGS5 site. It shows the timeline with all canon games. MPO is out, replaced by Peace Walker. www.konami.jp/mgs5/I should also mention that Rising is not included in the timeline either.

Definitely don't mind this one, I couldn't be bothered to complete this game.

Nice! Peace Walker should replace it since it's a superior game anyways. Probably my #2 or #3 favorite MGS game.

I enjoyed Peace Walker, it is a fun game, and it already mostly ignored Portable Ops anyway. I'm glad it came out on the PS3 as I would not have played it otherwise.

Yet another victory for A.G., hahahaha!
I honestly don't mind Portable Ops that much. I agree Peace Walker's gameplay is so much better, but I dunno, the story's pace was done much better in Portable Ops, if you ask me.
It's not a bad game, just not canon.

About PW: Sorry, but this game is f...ckING broken and I just can't play it any longer. It does NOT pause whatever happens in the BG unlike MGS2 and 3, where everything freezes while you're selecting weapons or equipment. Sh*t is going on in the environment at an insane pace, all while you're switching items, and I simply cannot find it possible to continue playing it.
About Rising: This is another of the few times where I will just not get the game, an instance of Kojima slapping 'METAL GEAR SOLID' onto a piece of sh*t that only dumb f...ckers would find it possible to accept. The demo just shows how un-MGS this game is; the fact that HK could bother to transfer the fun aspect of Tactical/ Espionage/ Action/ Operations etc into the hack-and-slash nature of said title just shows how embarrassing his attempts to milk the sh*t outta MGS has become.
(The story, for me, already hit rock bottom with MG1, MG2, MGS1, MGS2, MGS3 and MGS4 anyway; other instalments have just proved how Kojima has run the plot into the ground)

Sh*t is going on in the environment at an insane pace, all while you're switching items, and I simply cannot find it possible to continue playing it. It's called difficulty. Deal with it. It's really not that big of a problem, since you don't have that many items with you anyway. Have you ever finished the game? About Rising: This is another of the few times where I will just not get the game, an instance of Kojima slapping 'METAL GEAR SOLID' onto a piece of sh*t that only dumb f...ckers would find it possible to accept. The demo just shows how un-MGS this game is; the fact that HK could bother to transfer the fun aspect of Tactical/ Espionage/ Action/ Operations etc into the hack-and-slash nature of said title just shows how embarrassing his attempts to milk the sh*t outta MGS has become. Great job bashing a game you never played. Why is Rising such a problem for some fans? What do you expect from a game where you play a cyborg ninja? As I said before, I don't consider this a successor to the main Kojima-directed series, but it doesn't want to be that anyway. If you can't get past your narrow mindset and have some fun, fine with me. But don't bash something you really have no actual idea about, especially since this is still a pretty decent game. (The story, for me, already hit rock bottom with MG1, MG2, MGS1, MGS2, MGS3 and MGS4 anyway; other instalments have just proved how Kojima has run the plot into the ground) Again, you completely miss the point of what MGS is about. Kojima prioritizes the thematic message over the factual story. Always has, always will. He assumes, the player is intelligent and open-minded enough to realize he is playing a game where not all of the fiction has to add up perfectly, but where the personal stories of the characters evolve and the deeper theme about what to pass on to future generations continually evolves and tackles different topics and aspects. If you can't get past your obsession with the fact collection of Metal Gear Lore than you are playing the wrong series. And after that E3 trailer? Kojima is running the story into the ground. From the looks of it he is very true to himself and the series and continues to evolve what has been there before. Of course, I can be proven completely wrong on September 1st, but I really doubt it very much.

And that's the problem. Personally, I still think MGS2/3 were the BEST in terms of gameplay. Because they both allowed you to swap through multiple weapons, unlike MGS4 (this was limited to 5 guns) and PW.
And no, I haven't finished the game yet.

Keep in mind that Peace Walker was designed with Co-Op in mind. That being said there are some balancing issues towards the end. The final boss took me 45 minutes to beat.... Multiple times. But it's been a while. And once you do beat it, you really feel like you avhieved something! You really have to make use of your Fulton baloons and Motherbase's R&D team in order to develope new equipment as this will make things a lot easier for you later on. MGS4 only 5 guns - what? You actually have like 50 guns and rifles and explosives. It's actually almost too much imo. But I understand they were going for player freedom here and giving you the opportunity to beat the game guns blazing as well.

I meant you can only select from 5 guns when you're in gameplay, of course the Drebin armoury has a SH*TLOAD more, lmfao
Even with co-op though, this is really bullsh*t. I still think Konami f...cked up like hell. They should've designed it to literally freeze the entire background when you're selecting whatever you need.

Yeah. But that was also in MGS3 where you can carry only a limited amount of gear on you. I think they solved that balance of many items in the game vs. a small in game menu pretty well. They didn't f...ck up totally. Seriously. It's not that big of a deal and since you have fewer items/ armor with it's no problem. It's actually a little more realistic. I always chuckled at the thought of a boss battle being like "Snaaaake, I will kill you with my hornets!!!" "Wait a second, I have to change my camouflage, get my rifle from my backpack and call that chick who saves my game!"

Wasn't their an early production video from MGS2, where all you items actually showed on the character? That was marvelous! Found it! At about 5:10 in the video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dRZTXFDWB8

I kind it find it unbelievable how video game characters in general can somehow sprint at full speed, even when carrying hardcore equipment, like you see in Resistance; you actually get a carbine, shotgun, sniper rifle, SMG...etc etc... the entire list goes on.
