Top 10 games of the generation

What is your top 10 (or top 5) list of games for the previous generation (PS3, 360, Wii)?

I've seen a few lists that included games like The Last of Us, Uncharted 2, GTA5, and MGS4.

Unfortunately, I have to stick to PS3 games since it's the only system I chose to own for the PS3/360 generation.

My top 10 would have to be (not necessarily in order):

1. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
2. MGS4
3. Fallout 3
4. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
5. Uncharted 2
6. Assasin's Creed II
7. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
8. Heavy Rain
9. Dead Space
10. Plants vs Zombies

I don't hear people talk too much about the Castlevania title. I loved it, it was totally inspiring! The artwork was top-notch and even inspired me to buy art supplies and draw a few things! Excellent soundtrack and story, good degree of difficulty, pretty balanced gameplay and the atmosphere was excellent with a decent amount of replay value. Also - Patrick Stewart as the narrator. Looking forward to the sequel.

I had immense fun with Plants vs Zombies and find that it still has replay value. I sunk close to 150 hours into this game, so it makes the list. Heavy Rain was a cinematic experience and completely unique, I would love to see more games like that. I recently bought Red Dead Redemption and Dark Souls, so we'll see if that changes any of the rankings.

Have you tried The Last Of Us?

No, I haven't, I'm pretty eager to, but I just have too many other games and can't justify buying it just yet.

I got MGS Rising: Revengeance for Christmas, bout to start that one up today. Also picked up some old Gamecube games - Metroid Prime and LoZ: the Windwaker.

Two requirements for my list: 1. they have to be games that I played. 2. There is only one game for each series.

1. Red Dead Redemption
2. Batman: Arkham City
3. The Last of Us
4. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
5. Assassin's Creed II (it was between this and Black Flag, but this game was the defining game in the series and has a better story and controls imo)
6. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
7. Tomb Raider: Underworld (for emphasis on puzzles rather than shooting)
8. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (haven't played the sequels)
9. L.A. Noire (loved the setting and attention to detail)
10. Little Big Planet

Places 2-4 are about on par, however, Arkham City won because I'm a longtime batman fan and this brought together all the great interpretations beautifully.

F - Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow (bar the horrid cliffhanger ending)
G - Call of Duty MW2/3 (praises only for the Spec Ops mode though)
H - Elder Scrolls 5
I - Grand Theft Auto 4
J - Resistance Fall of Man

So there, my top games. Always loved how the MGS collections provided the original MG and MG2. The ONLY thing worth redeeming CoD was the co-op mode, and I was always a SF fan even after LS gave the fanbase that sh*tty post-credits cutscene.

Kind of telling that two of the games are HD collections with remasters of previous-gen games. That was one hell of a generation. Open Worlds, DRM, DLC, HD remasters, casual gaming, motion controlled gaming, reboots... I have a feeling the gaming industry is kind of stagnating soon.

Yeah. This generation was f...cking awesome, lol. Splinter Cell trilogy, Hitman HDC, etc, the list goes on. Always loved how Konami could send not one, but TWO, series' into high definition, but Sony doesn't even give a f...ck about Syphon Filter to up the trilogy into a HDC.
