I mentioned before that I replay Metal Gear games once a year. I've been experimenting with a schedule and I must say I like it. With the 6 games it works out to every other month.
MGS3 - August. Main reason is because the game takes place in August.
MG1 - October. No reason, just fits in the schedule.
MG2 - December. Main reason is because the game takes place on December 24th.
MGS1 - February. Main reason is at the end Snake says that Spring will be here soon, so it works out.
MGS2 - April. Main reason is because the Big Shell mission takes place in April.
MGS4 - June. No concrete evidence that it takes place in the summer, but it fits in the schedule and the game was released in June.
MGS5 and MPW are not on my replay list.

I just love how there's "no reason" to play specific games in that particular month but suddenly MGS5 and PW are for no reason left out. (Although I do understand how you don't like them due to the story being farked up as compared to the rest of the series)

Not every game has a specific date. Some do, so I structured those first (MGS3, MG2, MGS2). Going in story order from MGS3 to MGS4 allows the other three to fit in nicely and allow a game every other month.
Why would I replay MPW and MGS5? I replay the other 6 because I love them and consider them a complete series. I have no attachment to MPW and MGS5.

Well, there are MANY other ways to play the series. You could do it in chronological order (MGS3, MG1, MG2, MGS, MGS2, MGS4 etc) to experience the entire story.
Ironically, though, you miss out on PO, PW and MGS5 if you actually play it according to the timeline, despite them generally having a dumb story.

I start in August and end in June. Instead of laughing you could've made more of an effort to read. Ironically, though, you miss out on PO, PW and MGS5 if you actually play it according to the timeline, despite them generally having a dumb story. How is that ironic? PO isn't officially cannon anymore. And for me, personall, neither is MPW or MGS5. I really don't care what the official timeline is anymore.

Well, then I laugh at myself for being so farking dumb.
But YOU said it yourself some time back that PW confirms PO is officially canon. The exact line you typed was
"The sad thing is, MPW confirms MPO is indeed canon. lmfao "We can finally put that sh!t at San Hyranymo behind us". That means that bullsh!t happened. lol Even though the line is a great slam on the game it also means MPO is canon."
Well, if you "really don't care", then you would be playing ALL the games, assuming you ARE a hardcore MGS fanatic.
Just on a side note: I'd only like to for argument's sake though not because I disagree with you. So, if you DO feel offended, that really is not my intention.

I was a hardcore fan. 1999 - 2009. After I spent about a year getting everything out of MGS4, I was done. MPW was a good test though, an official Kojima game. I remember seeing the announcement the summer of 2009. Felt nothing for the game. Felt nothing for it when I played it. Feel nothing for it now.

Sadly, PW was essentially a Kojima-directed MGS5 (something he himself admitted) and a game he reportedly ENJOYED making, unlike MGS4 (which he NEVER wanted to make and NEVER should've made). PW is twice the MG game that MGS4 is, gameplay wise at least.
(With that said, you could theoretically argue that Kojima is filled with bullsh*t. MGS2 was originally supposed to be the end. But then we see MGS3...And now, MGS4 which should've tied up the remaining loose ends. And there're documentaries showing him say it! Yet here we are, with PW... And Rising... And this sh*t'll go on and on...And as with PO, it'll all somehow be considered canon.)

Love the order. Really fits with the seasons. In-game climate matches outside climate. As for MPw and MGSV: they are quite different and not really the same kind of games that the other ones are, mainly because they have this mission based TV series like structure as opposed to movie like in the other ones. They also have the whole Managment component, which - while somewhat enjoyable on a first playthrough - admittedly could be tedious on repeated playthroughs. But since you don't like them anyways, that's not an issue for you.
@ Cerberus: I don't get it, you are inconsistent. Weren't you the one who was bashing PW while praising MGS4? Or whatever? What is your opinion? You seem to have a different one every other week...

While PW seems to be a masterpiece in the technical aspect, I certainly am bashing it due to the storyline premise completely taking a DUMP on the trilogy (y'know, first 3 games). The story from a gamer's point of view works well if you go from MGS3 to MG1. However, playing MPO and more so MPW prior to MG1 not only confuses the timeline but diminishes everything the original title stood for.
(MPO, on the other hand, might have a deteriorating technical quality in terms of gameplay but the plot only had very small issues compared to the other games)

I don't get, why people always assume that if a series gets a prequel it should work as a new first installment in the series. That isn't how prequels work. A prequel is still a sequel, especially if it continues the numbering from a previous work. I mean, how do you watch The Godfather? Half of Part II, then Part I, then the rest of Part II? The fun in prequels is precisely knowing the outcome of an event and speculating on HOW something is going to happen, not just WHAT is going to happen.

Unless it blatantly retcons vital elements of existing titles.

Let me be clear, I NEVER once said that PW works as a new first instalment in the series. NOT ONCE did I ever insinuate that. In fact, I DID and still DO hold my contention that PW is a sh*tTY instalment if it's considered a prequel to MG1.
Oh, good. So PW is somehow considered a 'sequel' even though it clearly happens BEFORE MG1. Well then, why the bloody hell was MG2 made? In fact, why are ANY 2/3/4/5's made in the MGS series? The very fact that all these continue their numbering from the first work indicate THOSE ARE OFFICIAL SEQUELS but I'm sorry, PW just does NOT have a number in terms of the MGS series!
Is that so? Well then, let me address some of the retcons of PW. Since it's a prequel that speculates on how something will happen, according to you...
How about Zeke beign the first Metal Gear? How about the US government having bipedal nuclear weapons in the 70's? How about Zero knowing Big Boss runs Outer Heaven? And the best one, Big Boss letting go of The Boss at the end.
