After watching Super Bunnyhop's review of the newest game, I decided to invest in the "Intro Pack", which comes with the first sixth of the game.
I've never played any of the games before, but I enjoyed this one quite a bit. Bunnyhop was quite right calling this more of an unofficial James Bond game than an actual contract killer game. It does have a detail in leveldesign that was lacking in MGSV (though I stand by my statement that that game has great gameplay systems).
I'll still probably wait for the disc release of the full game as I don't want to encourage digital-only distribution of games and this game - as great as it is - is tied to some really awful BS. Elusive Targets - levels that disappear after a certain amount of time, never to be seen from again - and Always Online - if you want to keep your rewards and upgrades intact - seriously? Hope, they'll fix this one day eventually. But I'll happy with the disc-version, even if I can't upgrade my character anymore 10 years from now.

Here is the video I mentioned above. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBaZUtRiIAMBasically they released the game in 6 Episode over the course of the past year. I payed 15€ for the "Intro Pack" which comes with the first episode. The remaining 5 Episodes cost 10€/10$ each. Each episode comes with a detailed city environment with all kinds of little things going on that you can use for your advantage. Basically, if you are online there are additional missions and some of them are the so called "Elusive Targets" which you can only try once (so, if you fail, they are gone forever) and on top of that they have "expiration dates". There's a timer counting down and after that timer hits zero, they are also gone forever. EDIT: Also worth mentioning is that the game isn't a reboot, but a sequel. Similar to Star Wars VII it doesn't require you to have played the predecessors.

Well. That reminds me of Unit 13. Every day the game loads a 'daily challenge' that you can compete in with other players to try to achieve a high score. You only had one chance to score your best. If you quit the mission, your score was 0. And it also expired in a similar manner. They had a timer counting down until the next daily challenge was loaded. The best part was that each challenge was randomised. Ie, you could get ANY map and ANY mission for that matter.

The bitch about Hitman 2016 is that the Elusive Targets missions are somewhat carefully crafted fully fledged missions with original characters and specific high-profile voice actors that apperently also use parts of the map that aren't used in the main campaign.
Time-locked content is really just a way to get people to buy the games when they're still new and expensive. Cheap used-car-salesman marketign gimmicks.
