Went back and played it. I must admit, I really enjoyed it. I spent a lot of time with it when it came out. I still like messing around with it. And the DejaVu mession is fantastic! Though they really needed David Hayter's voice there.
I've yet to replay Phantom Pain.

Yeah, they really nailed the level design here. I love the indoor spaces in this game and felt something like that was missing from the main game. Mostly jungles and desert and military bases. I liked the villa in the Code Talker mission and also to some degree the airport, but sadly especially the former was never really used to much effect again. I actually think the Code Talker mission was one of the games best. First, you have the Skull Dominas - I mean Snipers - stalking you and just sneaking by them is a totally valid option. Then you have this huge villa to explore and try to find your way around. However, since it's only in one mission, it means that most of it may be overlooked: I found Code Talker pretty quickly and missed most of the villa on my first playthrough of the mission. I actually haven't had a second playthrough of the game either. Every now and then I pop it in to mess around in the world or replay a mission for the optional objectives or just mess around with it, too. I'm currently catching up on the Arkham games and AC Syndicate. Maybe ater that, I'll try a full playthrough of MGSV again, but it really seems kind of tedious if you're not in the right mood for messing with guards and have to re-upgrade your base and equipment all over again.

Replayed Ground Zeroes yesterday. Leveldesign is great. Very varied environment. Lot's of hidden areas. However there are many doors that don't open and lead nowhere, which breaks the immersion a bit. The story is decent. Cassette tapes are a bit awkward tbh. Especially since I'm not the kind of guy who is listening to them during gameplay. The plot was so spoiled. If this was released just as "Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes", without the number, before there was any announcement of The Phantom Pain, it would have been really awesome. The 30€ pricetag is a bit high. 10€ or 20€ max would have been okay. I haven't replayed the side missions, yet. But as a 10€ demo this would have been a great demonstration of both the FOX engine and the new Metal Gear gameplay. Since it was overpriced, spoiled and MGSV had already been announced, it didn't have the best marketing. However, I think it still has amazing gameplay, visuals and the promise of a great story to boot. I am still playing Yakuza 2, but I will eventually restart The Phantom Pain and am wondering how it will stack up on a second playthrough for me, without all the expectations.

Ground Zeroes has that nice MGS2 Tanker feel!
As for Phantom Pain, unless you are very attached to what you unlocked, I recommend starting fresh. It's the only way to get everything. Pain the ass to rebuild the base and all the equipment, but without it it's hard to get the full effect.
