Lately I was catching up on Assassin's Creed: Syndicate and replaying the Batman Arkham series (non-remastered, just finished City's main story and was doing all the side stuff), when I caught Skyrim SE on a sale! Great game. Never got far in the original because I was so fascinated with the world and took forever to do anything. I really like what they've done with the remaster. Great texture and shader work, higher draw distance and higher resolution. Looks more beautiful than ever. In comparison with Witcher 3 (which I still haven't finished!) it gives you less environmental variety and of course a weaker story and a weaker melee combat system. However it makes up for it with the sheer amount of freedom you have. Overall, if I had to choose, I's still prefer The Witcher, since I like story driven games and it does sooo much right (combat system, world, characters, storylines, quests, acting, lighting, music (!!!), atmosphere, world design), but I'm actually very happy to have both to switch things up. Other than that, I still have The Last Guardian, which I have begun to play and enjoy in spite of its maddening controls, Deus Ex: Human Revolution & Mankind Divided, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Alien Isolation on my shelf. But little time What are you guys playing?

Well, I'm a bit more old school myself. Having a go at MW2 and 3's spec ops, Zone of the Enders and the MGS HDC; GTA 4 and a few PS-1 style games like Syphon Filter. Check 'em out, I DEFINITELY recommend them!

Yeah, those are supposed to be good games, but to be honest, I'm not really into FPS and TPS (Uncharted being a rare exception). I can still recommend the new Tomb Raider (good gameplay, not so good story). One game series that's really awesome and more people should play is the Yakuza series. If you still have a PS2 around you should start with the first game. I found my copy in GameStop, but this is germany we are talking about, the country that sees video games as a waste of time at best and a training camp for serial killers at worst.

Sadly, my PS2 crashed a few years back...

That sucks... There is also an HD collection in Japan. I don't know if you speak any Japanese, but the series is known as Ryu ga Gotoku over tere. Maybe you can get the HD collection for PS3 (or WiiU, if you own one). There is also a prequel out in a couple of days in the West, Yakuza Zero. It's supposed to be a great entry point for newcomers. So maybe you can find a copy of that, if you are interested. If you are curious what the series is about, here is a great video that someone made on the series: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkN9oru-qCQIt covers only all the games up until 2014 (since then Yakuza Zero, Yakuza 6 and a Yakuza 1 remake have been released, but the latter two are only available in Japan, so far), but it's a pretty comprehensive look at the series.
