You mean, they have many connections to other games/ films in the franchise? I guess so. For some, it's part of why they like these franchises so much, because they seem to present fully-fleshed out worlds that seem as real and complex as our own. For others, however, this is why they are turned off from these franchises beyond the first few installments, because all the world-building gets in the way of just telling good stories.
However, this doesn't really apply to Horizon: Zero Dawn and Until Dawn (yet), this there's only one installment at this point and no sequel baggage (yet).
