I did like the new Assassin's Creed at first, but after watching a couple of gameplay videos, I'm not so sure. Setting looks beautiful and it finally seems to have a real combat system, but it seems to steal so much from other games. The new Eagle Vision seems to be identical to Ghost Recon: Wildlands' drones (haven't played the game), cliff climbing like Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Combat system very similar to Dark Souls/ Bloodborne, but probably less engaging, sailing from The Witcher 3... basic gameplay almost unchanged from prior games.... Factor in last year's terrible movie and here's hoping the series is not hitting rock bottom - or rather that it's not staying there (after Unity in 2014).
Aside from that, everything seemed more tired than usual. There was not really a wow-moment, no really big announcements. Just in comparison: E3 2016 - NieR: Automata demo, Resident Evil VII, Death Stranding, Shenmue III, God of War, Days Gone, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Detroit: Become HUman - all games that had some kind of WHAM behind them, be it techinally impressive (Days Gone) or just the unexpected return of a beloved franchise. THis year's E3 just had more of what was already announced be little more - less even, since big games we expected (RDR2, Last of Us 2, Death Stranding, SHenmue III) weren't even there. With the Shadow of the Colossus remake, no one seems to be sure whether this will be counted as a remake or remaster... and that pretty much sums up this year's E3: overall underwhelming. Not even really bad like Konami 2010 or Xbox 2013.
Well,
