If you haven’t watched it, you should. Some things are different from the game, but some additional stuff too. More ninja moments and more importantly the Liquid parts. Even Sorrow cameo. Definitely confirms that it works to have the Liquid takeover be legit in MGS2 and an act in MGS4.

It's funny how the Digital Graphic Novels are Hayter's final official performance as Snake.

Hayter is Snake. Nobody else, regardless of talent, can be Snake.

Indeed David Hayter is Snake. Snake is David Hayter and certainly NOT damn Sutherland!

While I did think Sutherland did a good job in MGSV, nothing tops Hayter. In fact, I would have love to hear him as Ishmael/ Big Boss. But that would have spoiled the twist far too early.
Fun fact: In Japan, there is far more consistency among the Snakes: Akio Otsuka voices Solid Snake, Solidus Snake, Naked Snake/ Big Boss and Punished "Venom" Snake. And the elder Big Boss in MGS4 is voiced by Chikao Otsuka, who is, fittingly, Akio Otsuka's father. Only Liquid Snake has a unique voice among the Snakes, namely Banjo Ginga. Honestly, I think MGS2 (with Solidus claiming to be Solid Snake initially), MGS4 (father and son as "father" and "son") and MGSV did profit from that setup.
No offense to Richard Doyle, Kiefer Sutherland and the late John Cygan.
