We know that Volume 1 will cover the first 5 games:
MGS 1 (including VR Missions) MGS 2 HD Collection Version (including VR Missions and Snake Tales) MGS 3 HD Collection Version (including MG 1 and MG 2)
What are your thoughts on Volume 2 and possibly beyond? One think to consider is MGS V. It’s a PS4 game, so it’s playable on a modern system. I wonder if they would include it. Unlike Volume 1, some of the later games are bigger and would likely require multiple disks.
For Volume 2, I think the most logical choices are:
MGS 4 (possibly a remaster) Peace Walker HD Collection Version Rising
Both Peace Walker and Rising have a strong following and it would get them off the PS3 for PlayStation users.
I doubt that we would see a Volume 3… but it is possible given what they did with they recent Ninja Turtles collection. Pulling all those other obscure titles together from various dead systems would be great:
MG NES Snake’s Revenge Ghost Babel Twin Snakes Acid Acid 2 Portable Ops MGS Mobile
Not sure how deep they can go into some of the ports, but most of those should be doable unless there is a Nintendo issue. In which case, maybe release the first 4 on that list for the Switch.

Holy Bipedal Tank did I miss a lot! I guess you're pretty much right about the MC Vol. 2, except I bet they'll include MGSV rather than Rising. A collection with some of the more obscure spin-off titles as well as Twin Snakes and Rising would be awesome! Don't get me wrong, Twin Snakes doesn't supersede MGS1, but it's still a cool derivative work that I'd like to play again.... without dusting off my GameCube which I actually only keep for this game!

Guess it depends on how they feel about Kojima now in terms of MGS V. Homeboy plastered his name all over every chapter opening and closing! lol

That‘s because he wanted the game to feel Like a tv.series rather than a movie, so every Mission had credits. I actually Liked it. And The Guy deserves a little indulgence in my book.

Felt like overkill. He just stuck his name everywhere. Especially when you couldn’t even skip those scenes.
MGS4, MPW and MGSV are the most logical candidates from a story perspective though. Wonder if they will include the digital graphic novels for MGS1 and MGS2. Should be an easy grab from the Legacy collection. But that could be a good addition to Volume 3.
They did mention that some things may be removed due to licensing. Some are concerned with losing stock footage from MGS1-3. And MGS4 could be in trouble as it had a lot of product placement.

We got trailers and new info!
The collection will include the NES games, graphic novels and a soundtrack! Very impressive! And even Switch is getting it!
The inclusion of the NES games gives me a different perspective in their strategy. I think they will try to get everything out but to get good sales for Volumes 2 and 3 they will need to avoid getting the remaining big titles in one go. Break them up so both volumes are attractive to buy. I would group them as such:
Volume 2: - MGS4 - Twin Snakes - Rising - Ghost Babel - Acid - Acid 2
Volume 3: - Portable Ops - Peace Walker - Ground Zeroes - Phantom Pain
I wonder if they will include Survive. Technically it did use the MGSV mechanics.
