I want to start a long discussion about this game. In time, we can do the same for other titles. So let's talk about the first game of the series. Let's discuss all the versions, character, pros, and cons of it. Tell me what you liked about and what you didn't like. We can talk about secrets, cheats, codes... the works.
Let's make this thread long and in-depth, like guide. Everything on "Metal Gear".

Well, I still play it every once in a while on my MSX. It's really a fun game, and is VERY challenging. It's one of the hardest 8-bit games I ever played. It also proves that Hideo Kojima is the father of stealth tactics, because way back when, when all the other games were just "run in a straight line and kill" This game discouraged that type of play, and rewarded players who were crafty, and thought before they shot.

I haven't beat this yet! I always get stuck on those two twin guys that just kill you. The graphics are awesome and I love the way the stealth works. I would seriously take MG1 over Splinter Cell ANYDAY.

I would seriously take MG1 over Splinter Cell ANYDAY. For those who have not played it,....play it. I would hinestly take a punch in the mouth over Splinter Cell any day, but I digress. Yeah, the Arnolds can be a bit tough, but keep at it and you'll have them down in due time. The graphics are great for it's time. |

That still proves that it doesn't matter how the graphics are, the gameplay, story, etc. are still the most important. I think everybody here would choose MG1 over Splinter Cell, even though Splinter Cell has better graphics.

Knowing my favorite game's FIRST game, made in the 80's (i think) beats the pants off of Splinter Cell made in the year 2000!!

If they were to make a remake, I wonder if they would do it in the same style as MGS3 since its in the jungle and such. It would be really awesome to go back to the original, legendary Outer Heaven and see the aged Big Boss give a lengthy speech to Snake about his reasons for founding it. They could relate back to MGS3, and Big Bosses' connections with The Boss. Although if they made remakes of these two games, wouldn't they also have to talk about the Philosophers/Patriots? Just food for thought.

Let's just hope that Kojima is going to make some sort of bundle pack with MG1 and 2 for a handheld. ;D |

I like Contra. I don't think MG would make a very good sidescroller though. It's meant to be a top view game.

Hell no sidescroller. Keep it topview game, EXACTLY HOW IT IS ON MSX, only with updated graphics!
I think it should be on the PSP.
