I got the demo of this game, then Iwent out and bought the retail version after I fniished the demo. It's REALLY good. Scary as hell, and the graphics are really intense. Lots of good gameplay features too. The enemies are freaking EVERYWHERE! It started out a bit ammo conservative for me, but that changed a little bit into the game.

I picked it up fro a friend while he was out of town and installed it to try it out, but my computer was so f...cking slow that it couldn't handle it. Thus, I would need to answe twice.

Haven't played, but I'm sure my PC is up to it. Instead of Doom III I got HL2 and FarCry... I'm really not a Doom-kinda guy. The Soldier, have you tried FarCry? Sweet looking and a damn fine game.

I was at Best Buy the other day, Ash Wednesday to be exact, and I saw a young man with ashes all over the top of his head, staring at the back of a copy of Doom III. Reminded me of you. Anyway, yes, I played it, the graphics were very good, but the gameplay dosen't rank anywhere near even the HalfLife II demo that I played.

I bought Half-Life 2 instead of Doom 3. Doom 3 looked a bit old and there isn't a lot of new stuff.

Man I couldn't chose between HL or Doom III so I just bought Barbies Wild Horse Hunt 2k5.
heh seriosuly though....if I had to chose between the two I would have chosen HL2.
HL2 comes with CS (re-vamped with new engine FOR FREE) and it comes with the original HL with re-vamped stuff FOR FREE.
Doom (all games) to me is a series that I would play when I just want to kill stuff with lots of blood. Which isnt a bad thing at all I LOVE doom in all aspects of it.
HL however does deliever a more moving cinematic experince and it's something that I would want to play when I am serious.
In all, HL and Doom are equal to me and I respect them in everyway.

I was honestly disappointed with Counter-Strike Source. All they did was just code CS to use the Source graphics engine. There's nothing new!

They use ragdoll physics!
What else could they add though? New guns? That didn't really work out!
not to mention that there are bound to be patches and updates.

I bought HL2 after Xmas, and didn't like the new Steam account bull, or the fact that you have to wait three hours online to upload all the files that you installed alreay.

I think Steam is the most horribly executed idea ever. It was a good idea. Download games, thus eliminating the hassle of going to the store and discovering it's out of stock. Easily manage all those games. But it turned out horribly, and now I loathe even trying to start up my HL2 demo.

You shouldn't be trying that if you have dial-up.

I'm running a high-speed DSL connection. Steam is just so inefficient that it boggles the mind.

I found it rather easy to use. You can buy the game from your home. What's so hard about it?
and Pepe are you using dial-up?
