Well, this week is the TGS show. And not only are we getting a trailer for MGS4, but there will be a playable demo available at the show! So I’m sure that we’ll be getting the playable demo of MGS4 sometime soon, probably within the next couple of months! I can’t wait! Maybe I’ll just hold of on the actual games until I get the demo. Make that my first official PS3 title. LOL! Can’t wait!

Heavenly Sword isn't out in Australia yet? And only MGS4 sounds good on that list.

Might as well post this here.
I lost my job several months ago but I finally found another one with good pay and I could afford a PS3. My question is, to those who own one, is it worth getting one right now? The only reason I want a PS3 is MGS4, and was DMC4, but thats coming for the 360 as well. Im seeing a lot of good games on 360 at the moment and barely any good ones on the PS3. So should I just wait till MGS4 out?

It all comes down to what version you want. PSone and PS2 games work better on the 60 GB version because it has the Emotion Enging chip. But this version is discontinued to lessen production costs. So by the time MGS4 comes out you will only be able to get the 80 GB version. It's iffy with playabiltiy of the old games.
Bottom line:
If you want to play PS1 and PS2 games without worry, get the current 60 GB. If you don't care and only will do PS3 games, you can wait 'till next year and the 80 GB.
Hope this helps. I wasn't going to get one 'till next year, but I like full playability of my PS1 and PS2 titles.

I got my PS2 and Im not planning on getting rid of it either, so I can continue playing my PS1 and PS2 games there. So that isnt really a problem.
Whats the price of the 60 gig one?

60 GB - $499
80 GB - $599
I also like the 60 GB because having the EE chip makes me feel that it is more complete.

Ill get the 60gb instead before they run out then. I dont feel like cashing out an extra 100 bucks for a bigger hard drive I wont really use.

Well, keep in mind that there is a good chance that the 80 GB would probably drop in price by the time MGS4 comes out. It may be $499 by that point.

Well, keep in mind that there is a good chance that the 80 GB would probably drop in price by the time MGS4 comes out. It may be $499 by that point. You're forgetting the already announced 40 GB model. Guess that one will be the new "budget" version... ANYWAY, I must say that the EE engine on the PS3 dissapointed me plenty, although it's maybe the laser's fault and not the engine itself. My Resident Evil: Dual Shock PS1 CD is quite beaten alright, but still readeable and playeable. It plays perfectly on my PS1. What happened when I tried it on a friend's 60 GB PS3??? It never finished loading. It practically "imploded" It looked amazing, "smooth" and all, but I couldn't play it. So I missed the whole point. Good for you, AG, for buying it, I guessy. After all, you actaully ARE one step closer from Metal Gear Solid 4. Me??? I'm just happy being a retro gamer and currently saving for an MSX2+. Titles I would recomend??? Mmmh... well, I really loved "The Darkness", being completelly honest, and I also played plenty of Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. I tried Lair already, and it isn't a bad game per se, but... just try it if you have played any of the older Factor 5 titles before. I beated Lair in 11 hours, BTW. I could ramble and rant about PS3 "price over matter", its lack of exclusives, and so on, but, c'mon. How many times haven't you heard the same crap before??? It's pretty pointless mentioning it ALL OVER again. El Cernex

So what? It won’t have the EE chip, same as the 80 GB, but with half the storage space. Another half-assed machine.
OK, so you had a defect on a scratched disk... that proves NOTHING! Maybe you got a defective PS3... it doesn’t actually downplay the success rate of the 60 GB version in regards to playing PS and PS2 games. It’s nearly 100% efficient. “Couldn’t play it”? Get a better copy of the game. The PS3 is designed to play PSone games... Sony never promised that it would play ones that are in bad condition. The PSone maybe more linient towards playing a defective PSone disk.
The MSX2? WTF... Why? I mean... that seems like a cheesy investment. You’ll spend more on getting the original MSX2 games then you would on the PS3 games. Don’t forget, they are collectible items. Hell, if you want the original 2 Metal Gear games, get ready to watch EBAY daily and have AT LEAST $500. I own the two originals, complete in case with manual and promo inserts (near mint condition too!), and they cost me a bundle! Just about any MSX2 game is a 15-20 year collectible at this point. Good luch with that, money bags!
People also seem to forget that the PS3 hasn’t even hit it’s first year yet. That’s a vital factor. The PS2 didn’t have sh*t until Sons of Liberty, and that was a year after the release of the console.

Oh, there's no question about it. Just pointing out an even chaeper PS3 might exist by the time MGS4 hits the stores. As a "possible" $499 for a 80 GB PS3 is still too much, if you ask ME. [ Just stating what happened to me when trying out the PS3, man. Maybe it proves nothing to you, but you got to accept, the PSOne is better at playing its games than the Emotion Engine. At least, from what happened to me, I think that. I already own Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, which is my favorite so far. All I need is a MSX2+ to be able to play it. Yeah, I know, it's in japanese, but I already know most of it thanks to bluemsx anyway. (BTW: It's not exactly in SUCH a good shape... my version, I mean. The box shows some minor bumps, but everything else is there. I don't know what you mean by promo insert, though. If you mean the thing that covers the floppy "side" of the box, then... yeah, I have it too) I'm having no luck in tracing an orignal Metal Gear for the MSX. Funny thing is, ebay had the commodore version of MEtal Gear in 700 bucks. Even if I wanted it, I don't have that much of a credit, Can't argue with that. Although, what I always remember about that statement, is that the current situation of the competing consoles (Dreamcast and Gamecube - Wii and X360) isn't the same. El Cernex

The Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake that I have has everything in it and insert promos for other games/soundtracks. It's kinda cool seeing an old Japanese leaflette add! LOL!
Both, the Metal Gear 1 and 2 that I own I got REALLY lucky with. I got the MG2 last year in the spring. $330! But I'm not compalining. The box was near mint condition with NO wear tear on it, the manual, or the cartridge. I got MG1 earlier this year. I saw a guy selling MG2, and emailed him about MG1. I offered him a round $200 for it, and he agreed. It's great shape, same as my MG2.
It's funny, when they showed footage of the MG 20th Anniversary Party, they had a display case that had the 2 MSX games. I looked a laughed since the ones on my shape are in FAR better condition!
