Yeah... the whole point of buing a 60 GB is to get a PS3 with the Emotion Engine. The 40 and the 80 GB don't have it.

40Gb ps3 isnt really bad news. Its great news. People now have the option of a much cheaper PS3. EVERYONE HAS A PS2 and The PS2 install base is over 120 million. So if you have PS2 games you have a PS2 so play it on that, its better anyway.
The only difference is no PS2 compatibility, only 2 USB ports, no memory card slots (SD, MSduo, flash, etc) and 40GB HDD which is upgradeable.
You still have EVERYTHING ELSE wifi blueray bla bla bla. The 40GB PS3 is going for $699 in AUS while the orignal 60GB is going for $999. Thats a saving of $300 just for no PS2 games and a smaller HDD and no memory stick slots.
The 40GB model is aimed for those who want a PS3 to play PS3 games. And for those who want a PS3 but cannot afford the higher range models.
I hardly think its bad news, especially since they still have the 60GB and 80GB consoles still available for those who want the extras.
