Well, that's bad news. I was really hoping this would end the series but oh well. I really stopped caring. The series ended with MGS4, all these new games are just watering the story down. Disagree, as said before. However, I am really curious what Kojima will do next. Could be the first time in 20 years that he will be directing a non-Metal Gear game!

Well, as the saying goes, one man's trash is another's treasure. AG may think that the series is more bullsh*t than good at this point, but others have different opinions. I just hope that Kojima somehow redeems himself using a believable storyline that, when combined with f...cking fun gameplay, makes the replay value skyrocket.

I was just thinking that MPO and MGS4 were announced in 2005. So we've now had a decade of missing links and final chapters in the saga. It's really hard to find a reason to care about the story at this point.

It's been more than a decade for final chapters. Back in 2001 he said MGS2 was a companion piece of sorts to MGS1 and that the series is over. On E3 2004 or TGS 2003 I remember some trailers announcing MGS3 as "the final part of the MGS trilogy". However, I still feel that MPO was really important to Kojima back than. MPO and MGS4 were designed as a one-two-punch to conclude the series, I think. Actually, I think the E3 2013 trailer was quite funny with its opening words by Kaz "Why are we still here?" Maybe a fourth-wall breaking comment. I think it's actually more because of Konami that the series is still coming out rather than because of Kojima.
Contrary to popular belief, Kojima never directed any of those games. He "just" produced them and gave input similar to Portable Ops or the Boktai games (which I swear are unofficial Metal Gear Solid Game Boy Advance titles! Go ahead, check out one walkthrough on youtube^^).

Well, I dunno dude. Seems to me like Kojima couldn't be f...cked to give a sh*t, especially with MPO. The very fact that he released it on a f...cking PSP just shows how desperate he is to get people to worship the series, seeing as said console has fewer buttons than the PS4 or Xbox. I believe that had he released it on a proper console, then the gameplay would be more fluid than a PSP.
As for MGS4, that is a true pity because he claims that this or that will end the series, but here we are, with MGS5 and a possible MGS6 in the workd (refer to my picture link on previous page).
Maybe he never directed them, but that deceives people 'cos ZoE has the same 'A HIDEO KOJIMA GAME' label that is slapped on every POS that MGS has degraded into. It even has its tagline 'HIGH SPEED ROBOT ACTION' so it's hard to claim that 'o yea he never directed zat game herp derp'.
